K2 AMP Aftershock Skis + MX14 Bindings 2012
K2 Skis Catalog 2011-12
A.M.P. Series
In 2012, K2’s A.M.P. series is engineered for resort based, in bounds skiing with innovative technologies that maximize the control and performance of our skis. Terrain-specific Baseline profiles allow skiers of all abilities to make the most of any conditions encountered at the resort. The result is more speed and control, more flawless turns, and ultimately, more fun.
AMP: Rockering out, one skier at a time.
Scheduled for their second major tour this winter, A.M.P. set the industry on fire last year with hit new releases like Aftershock and Rictor, as well as Rockering out the entire all mountain album. Never before has a rock brand made such a statement, and thanks to the technical innovation of Baseline profiles, the hits will just keep on coming for A.M.P in the 2011/12 season.
Layin’ down those tracks of flame
I start to feel just a little blame
Of arcing and trashing that perfect lane
Oh, Mr. Snowcat driver, your perfection is insane.

A.M.P. Technology
Men’s All-Mountain Performance Overview
Mod Technology
High-Performance Suspension System
Mod functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected.
Men’s-Specific Mod Structure
The optimum location and thickness of mass differs from men to women. The men’s Mod structure is more X-shaped, distributing mass to the perimeter for increased edge-hold. The thickest part of the Mod structure in the fore body includes a new technology window.
Mod Monic
A Focused Mass-Dampener
The Monic is a solid zinc mass that works in conjunction with the Mod structure to focus mass-dampening at a targeted location.
Men’s-specific Mod Monic
Although the precise location of the Mod Monic is consistent between our men’s and women’s models, the measured amount of focused mass is different. The men’s Mod
Monic is slightly heavier and X-shaped to further complement the Mod structure form.
Marker K2/MX System
Working in conjunction with the integrated hubs, the Marker K2/MX provides unmatched precision and control on our highest-end A.M.P. models. The system uses Marker’s Inter-Pivot Heel technology and new lightweight Triple-Pivot Comfort MX toe for an even wider footprint than the previous MX. This new toe comes with a cross-mounted spring, stainless steel AFD, and backward release function.
Marker K2/M3 System
The Marker K2/M3 is the ultimate ski/plate/binding system designed for recreational skiers. It utilizes a new Compact Toe and a fixed Compact2 Heel design to generate more power, precision and quickness underfoot in a 20% lighter design. The Marker K2/M2 system’s sleek design is graphically integrated into the look of the A.M.P. Series skis.
Hybritech Technology
Hybritech is a unique blend of sidewall and cap construction. The construction combines the accuracy and power performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight characteristics and smooth turn initiation of cap construction.
Carbon Web
Enveloping the mod structure with a carbon weave where the strands of carbon are laid at precise angle for an additional level of torsional rigidity on the secondary core. This keeps the ski light but gives you the additional torsional strength where you need it most.
Glass Web
Enveloping the Mod structure in a secondary glass weave for additional torsional rigidity provides a more forgiving and versatile version of the Carbon Web.
Integrated Hub Technology
Titanal hubs are imbedded into the core of the ski for the most direct transmission of power. The system hubs are functionally wider with a 50mm footprint, which decreases the distance between the binding and the edge of the ski for added performance.
M3 Plate
New for 2011/12 is a completely redesigned M3 plate that is lower, lighter and wider for a more effective transfer of power from the boot to the ski for better control and confidence.
Baseline Technology – The blending of rocker and camber
The biggest advancements in technology come from the inclusion of Rocker on our All-Mountain skis. The ease of initiation combined with the strong, secure hold on groomed snow makes it an ideal choice for nearly the entire line.
Speed Rocker™
Designed for firmer snow. This slightly elevated tip and increased tip length provide effortless initiation and flawless transitions between turns, while camber along the rest of the running surface delivers the most precision, power, and edge-hold of any Rocker category.
Catch-Free Rocker™
Designed for developing skiers. This elevated tip and tail assures effortless turn initiation at slow speeds, stability throughout the turn, and ease of release for added confidence and control.
All-Terrain Rocker™
Designed for all snow conditions. Features an elevated tip for added performance in variable or soft snow and easier turn initiation as well as camber underfoot for power, energy and edge-hold in firm conditions.
Aftershock
Offering the widest dimensions of the AMP series, this high performance ski is built with ungroomed or softer snow conditions in mind. The All-Terrain Rocker gives you the added versatility to rip the glades or explore a side of the mountain that you’ve never seen before. Don’t let the 86 mm waist width fool you; the Aftershock is still lively and agile on the groomers. Give them a try, the versatility of this ski will shock you.
